INDEPENDENCE DAY!
Hello everyone, how are you? The topic for today is the independence day of USA.
First, let's watch a video about this day
Now, we are going to know some data of this day
1. The independence of the 13 colonies was not signed on July 4
According to historian David McCullough, the fathers of Independence signed the declaration of separation from Great Britain on July 2, but the Second Continental Congress adopted it two days later on July 4, 1776.
2. John Adams is responsible for the celebration with fireworks
The first 4th of July celebration to feature fireworks was held in 1777 at the request of John Adams.
The independentista wrote a letter to his wife Abigail in which he asked that the first anniversary of the separation of the 13 colonies be celebrated with parades, shows and "lights", so this translated into fireworks.
3. The 4th of July is the biggest hot dog day in the US
According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans consume more than 150 million hot dogs during the Fourth of July weekend, far more than any other holiday.
4. The anniversary of independence took almost 100 years to be a public holiday
The celebrations for the independence of the 13 colonies took time to spread throughout the country and even longer to become a holiday.
In 1870, Congress passed a law to make July 4, the commemoration of Independence, an official holiday that all Americans should rest in order to celebrate.
